Batting for the Future - Biche Concrete Cricket Pitch Hand Over Ceremony

The TCL Group, in conjunction with member company, Readymix (WI) Limited officially handed over the first completed concrete cricket pitch in its Concrete Cricket Pitches Promotion to the community of Biche on Tuesday 29 September 2009 at the Biche Recreation Ground.

The Concrete Cricket Pitches Promotion took place in 2008 with the following objectives:
• To develop the sport of cricket in communities throughout our nation
• To encourage the youth in these communities to occupy their spare time in a constructive way
• To promote the importance of cricket to the social fabric of the Caribbean
• To promote a passion for the game, thereby ensuring the future of local and by extension, West Indian cricket.

Communities were asked to submit their information for an opportunity to receive a concrete cricket pitch. Over 145 entries were received from various regions throughout the country. 14 were randomly selected from the areas of East, North East, South East, South, South West, North and Central. Biche is the first community to receive its concrete pitch as a result of having submitted the necessary documents and approvals.
